Dutch_Reach_image_w_text_PassengerUS_DriverUK

A driver on right as in UK or a passenger on right front seat as in the USA uses his left, far hand to reach the door latch, swiveling torso and head naturally right and back over his shoulder to look for oncoming traffic. In this image, the occupant sees an on-coming cyclist. This drawing shows how Dutch Reach enables a safer exit from vehicles by making it easy to turn and look back over one’s shoulder and be continuously vigilant before and while opening a car door to exit. Caption in image summarizes the Dutch Reach method: Reach (with far hand), Turn, Look, Open.
